UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP report two missing men have been located

NANAIMO — Police have confirmed that 79-year-old Peter Dickinson who was reported missing on Saturday morning has been found.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy no other information will be released.

Nanaimo RCMP also announced on Monday that Derek George, who had been missing since October 17th, has been located as well.

Mounties are asking for help finding 79-year-old Peter Dickinson, who they say hasn’t been seen since Saturday morning.

Police say Dickinson has significant health issues and dementia. He left his care home on Machleary Street early Saturday morning with a blue backpack full of clothes.

Nanaimo RCMP say Dickinson has friends in Port Hardy and may be heading there. He hasn’t used his bank acount, doesn’t have a cell phone and doesn’t have a car.

Dickinson was last seen wearing a blue jacket, black pants and black sneakers. He may also be wearing a baseball hat. He’s 5’7″ and 140 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or 250-754-2345.

Police in Nanaimo are asking for help finding 29-year-old Derrick George.

Police say George was reported missing on Monday. They say his disappearance is out of character and his family and friends are very concerned.

George left his central Nanaimo home on Monday and since then has had no contact with his support network, according to police. Mounties say he doesn’t use social media, doesn’t drive and doesn’t have a cell phone.

George is First Nations, 6’2″, 300 pounds, with shaggy brown hair and has some facial hair.
