Clippers get late winner from Harris in 4-3 win at Trail

Oct 14, 2016 | 10:54 PM

TRAIL – The Clippers had a fast start and a great finish in their 4-3 victory in Trail on Friday.

Sean Buchanan scored on a power play three minutes in, and then Will LeNeave and Matt Kowalski made it 3-0 at the 12 minute mark.

That chased Smoke Eaters starter Zach Dyment from the game and saw backup goalie Linden Marshall finish the night in net.

Trail scored a power play goal in the last minute of the first, off the stick of Ross Armour to cut the lead to 3-1.

Josh Laframboise beat Evan DeBrouwer with a shot from the slot to close the gap to 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Luke Santerno tied the game in the third period on a rebound, despite DeBrouwer’s helmet being knocked off on the play.

Jake Harris got the game winner with five minutes left in the game after he was sprung by Lucas Finner.

His game winner went off the post and in to give Harris his second straight game winning goal.

The final shots finished 31-31 with Nanaimo going 1/1 on the power play and Trail finishing 1/2.

In their last two victories the Clippers ended Powell River’s seven game winning streak and Trail’s four game winning streak.

Saturday they try to play streak breakers again in Penticton, with the Vees holding a nine game winning streak.
