NDSS Community Field dedicated to partnership between City and school district

NANAIMO — The newly dedicated field beside NDSS is a symbol of School District 68 and the City of Nanaimo working together.

NDSS Community Field, the $3.8 million multi-sport artificial turf field within the Larry McNabb Sports Zone, was officially dedicated on Wednesday.

Nanaimo and Oceanside Minor Hockey had a strong showing in the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft.

Ben Coghlan is following his cousin Dylan's footsteps, as he was selected in the sixth round by the Tri-City Americans.

NANAIMO — They hang out and train together in the off-season as friends in Nanaimo. Now they are about to go head-to-head for a chance to advance to the Western Hockey League final.

NANAIMO — Some of the best 13 and 14-year-old players in the province have converged on Nanaimo for the annual Bantam Tier 1 Provincial Hockey Championship.

Buccaneers season over, Braves win game 7 to advance to VIJHL final

NANAIMO — It was heartbreak for the Buccaneers at the Pirate Ship.

The Saanich Braves beat Nanaimo 5-2 to win the seventh and decisive game of the VIJHL semifinal in front of a franchise record 610 fans at the Nanaimo Ice Centre Sunday night.

Nanaimo's Bajkov third local product to sign NHL contract in recent months

NANAIMO — The Florida Panthers signed Nanaimo Minor Hockey product Patrick Bajkov to a three-year entry-level contract.

Bajkov, 20, is in his fifth year with the Everett Silvertips and is having an outstanding campaign in Washington state, racking up 30 goals and 92 points in 67 games.
