Nanaimo and Oceanside Minor Hockey had a strong showing in the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft.

Ben Coghlan is following his cousin Dylan's footsteps, as he was selected in the sixth round by the Tri-City Americans.

Lacrosse season openers on tap for Senior B and Junior A Timbermen

NANAIMO — The city's youngest lacrosse players have been playing for a few weeks already, but May is when the junior and senior seasons ramp up.
 
This weekend the Junior A and Senior B Timbermen start their campaigns with very different expectations.
 

There are sledge hockey programs in Vancouver, Surrey, and Victoria, but none in Nanaimo. The Nanaimo Child Development Centre, the VIU Mariners hockey team, and Victoria Wheelchair Sports invite the community to try the sport on May 5 at Cliff McNabb Arena.

A rare chance to try sledge hockey comes to Nanaimo this weekend

NANAIMO — There isn't a sledge hockey program in Nanaimo... at least not yet.

A demo is coming to Cliff McNabb Arena on Saturday put on by the Nanaimo Child Development Centre, Victoria Wheelchair Sports, and the VIU Mariners hockey team.

Raiders schedule released

NANAIMO — The VI Raiders begin their season in a little over three months, however they'll have plenty of time to prepare, as the BC Football Conference (BCFC) released the schedule for the 2018 regular season.

NANAIMO — As the Clippers wrapped up a three day prospects camp one of their own was honoured by BC Hockey.
 
Terri Waller is the team's volunteer co-ordinator and was named a Fred Heslop Minor Hockey Week Award winner.
