Nanaimo Wastelands transform into village for motocross racing

NANAIMO – The Wastelands Motocross track resembled a small village last weekend for the seventh round in the Vancouver Island Championship series.

The grounds were full of campers, trailers, and bikes with a steady stream of racers taking to the track.

NANAIMO — The final weekend of May and the first Saturday and Sunday of June featured important track meets for Nanaimo Track and Field Club athletes.

NANAIMO — You have to go back to the summer of 2011 for the last time the Nanaimo Clippers made a blockbuster deal.
 
Back then the Fitzgerald triplets and Jesse Ursic left Nanaimo for Prince George in exchange for Trevor Fitzgerald, Josh Bryan, and Scott Milnthorp.

NANAIMO – The rugby program at Nanaimo District Secondary School is making huge strides.

In 2017 NDSS made it to provincials for the first time, and they're again competing at the BC championship in Abbotsford this week.

Nanoose Bay's Mike Mason among world's best with 2.32m high jump

NANAIMO – Mike Mason has been one of the world's elite high jumpers for many years but in 2018 he's been at the top of his game.

The 31-year-old from Nanoose Bay finished 6th at the Commonwealth Games in April with a mark of 2.24 metres.

NDSS Community Field dedicated to partnership between City and school district

NANAIMO — The newly dedicated field beside NDSS is a symbol of School District 68 and the City of Nanaimo working together.

NDSS Community Field, the $3.8 million multi-sport artificial turf field within the Larry McNabb Sports Zone, was officially dedicated on Wednesday.
