NANAIMO – The inaugural season of soccer for Pacific FC is just around the corner and the Canadian Premier League side already has deep connections to Nanaimo.

NANAIMO – When the VIU Mariners basketball teams hit the court on Thursday night they'll be battling more than just the Douglas Royals.

They'll be joining the fight to end the stigma around mental illness with an event called Make Some Noise for Mental Health.

VIU Mariners women's volleyball still on track for perfect season

NANAIMO – The VIU Mariners Women's Volleyball team continues to roll along with a perfect 16-0 record in the 2018-19 PACWEST season.

VIU is the defending national champion, and the last time they lost a match was in the gold medal game of the 2018 provincials last February.

NANAIMO – The 2019 portion of the curling season is underway with a lot of activity at the local club.

This weekend is the first major event of the new year with the Men's Rock the Ice Bonspiel Friday to Sunday.

As many as 32 teams are expected to participate.

NANAIMO – The BCJALL midget draft always comes up on the first weekend of the new year.

This time around the Nanaimo Timbermen do not hold hold a first round pick.

They'll pick in the second round twice, 10thand 13th overall.
