Man pleads guilty to one of largest child porn seizures in Nanaimo

NANAIMO — A Nanaimo man pleaded guilty to a massive child porn seizure involving hundreds of thousands of images.

Aaron Micheil Macrae pleaded guilty Tuesday at provincial court in Nanaimo to possessing and distributing child porn.

Crown prosecutor Nick Barber told NanaimoNewsNOW this is one of the largest cases in the Nanaimo area in terms of the number of images seized.

The case was adjourned until June 4, when Barber expected a sentencing date for Macrae would be set.

A pre-sentence and psychological report was ordered.

Barber couldn’t release more information about the volume and nature of the images since many details between the Crown and defence hadn’t been agreed upon.

He said the case involved accumulation of images over many years.
