Mar 29, 2019 | 10:22 AM

NANAIMO — The 17-year-old who allegedly stabbed a woman in an apparent random attack has been charged with attempted murder.

Crown prosecutor Leanne Mascolo confirmed the charge to NanaimoNewsNOW after it was recommended by Nanaimo RCMP.

The boy, who can’t be named under a publication ban due to his age, agreed to remain in custody pending a bail hearing on April 25.

Mascolo said it will be up to the accused if he chooses to enter a plea to the charge at that time.
