EARLIER:

Police are trying to identify a suspect accused of stealing a purse right out of a woman’s hands and fraudulently using her credit cards.

RCMP said it happened at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 in the Nanaimo Costco parking lot when a man grabbed the purse and ran off.

Police responded, but couldn’t find the suspect.

The purse contained credit cards, which were used shortly after the robbery at Quality Foods and the Northridge General Store, both located on Turner Rd.

Police said a suspect from the Quality Foods surveillance system matches the description of the man who allegedly stole the purse.

He’s described as white, about 6’0″, with a thin build and a scruffy looking salt and pepper beard.
