NANAIMO – The Clippers have added a pair of NCAA committed players for next season.

Forward Devan Tongue and defenseman Mike Kennedy are currently playing for Northfield Mount Hermon prep school.

Tongue led the team in scoring over the last two seasons with 81 points in 55 games.

The 19-year-old also has 33 points in his first 21 games in the 18-19 campaign.

He’ll spend his final year of junior eligibility with the Clippers before heading off to Bentley University in the NCAA.

Coach Darren Naylor says he’s excited to have the power forward join Nanaimo in the fall.

Mike Kennedy is in his fourth year at Northfield and is the current team captain.

The 18-year-old had 61 points in 80 games in his first three years at prep school and is playing at a point a game pace this season.

Naylor calls Kennedy a good leader who will be able to provide offense from the blueline.

Kennedy is scheduled to attend Princeton in the 2020-2021 campaign where he play along side current Clipper Mackenzie Merriman, who is also slated to join the Tigers that season.

Earlier this season the Clippers announced the commitment of blueliner Jack O’Brien for the 19-20 campaign.

It’s expected Nanaimo will return a strong core of veterans next year as well with at least 16 players eligible to come back.
