Canadian Tire in Nanaimo evacuated during ladies night event

NANAIMO — A ladies night event at Canadian Tire boiled over Sunday night and caused the store to be evacuated.
Upwards of 600 women hunting for bargains were forced outside for roughly an hour after the boiler malfunctioned.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue confirmed to NanaimoNewsNOW the boiler sent smoke into the building and also outside, which covered the Nanaimo North Town Centre area in smoke. The situation was fixed and the event finished for the night.
Event attendees told NanaimoNewsNOW the evacuation was fairly calm and orderly despite how many people were there.
