CAMPBELL RIVER — The two women were found early this afternoon and were reportedly hungry and cold, but otherwise in good condition.

A massive search is ongoing for a pair of elderly women and their dog on Quadra Island, east of Campbell River.

Comox Valley Search and Rescue manager Paul Berry said the women were last seen out for a walk early Wednesday (Nov. 14) evening.

He said search officials are focused on a particular area.

“They were not far from their residence up in the northeast corner of the island up toward Surge Narrows,” Berry said.

He said about 70 search and rescue personnel taking part in the search for the women, along with Quadra Island volunteers.
