NANAIMO — A driver will be without his car for at least a week after being busted going more than 60 kilometres over the speed limit on the highway through Lantzville.

Nanaimo RCMP said the car was clocked at 143 kilometres an hour in an 80 kilometre an hour area of Hwy. 19 near Ware Rd. on Nov. 8.

Police said the driver’s car was impounded for at least a week and he was given a $483 fine and three penalty points on his licence.

Under B.C.’s excessive speeding legislation, the driver is also responsible for storage and towing costs related to the impoundment of the vehicle.
