Phones and wallet stolen from Parksville arena tracked down, recovered by hockey players
OCEANSIDE — A phone stolen from the Oceanside Place Arena and the man who took it were quickly found by disgruntled hockey players the same night.
Oceanside RCMP said 60-year-old Vincent Powley snuck into the arena change rooms during a hockey game on Oct. 6 and pilfered numerous items from the players, such as smart phones, wallets and a back pack.
He then returned later in the game and took even more.
Police said once the items were discovered missing, the adult hockey players used a phone tracking app to lead them to Powley. He was found in a wooded area in Parksville.
