NANAIMO — It’s been a busy few days for Clippers General Manager Darren Naylor adding to his blueline.

On Saturday before the team’s game in Powell River Nanaimo brought in blueliner Joey Petruzzella who played last year with the Syracuse Jr. Stars of the USPHL.

The Phoenix Arizona product had five goals and 12 assists in 22 games.

Petruzzella immediately got into the lineup and had no points in the Clippers 4-2 loss to the Kings.

Then on Monday Nanaimo acquired 2000-born defenceman Trevor Isaksson from the Penticton Vees for future considerations.

In two seasons with the Valley West Hawks of the BCMML Isaksson put up 19 goals and 35 assists in 76 games.

In 2017-18 he was the leading scoring defenseman in the league with 14 goals and 22 assists in 36 games.

He served as the Hawks captain and was named to the BCMML All-Star Team.

The Clippers now have seven defenseman with 1998 born  Sam DeMelo no longer appearing on the active roster.

This week will be a challenging one for Nanaimo with three games in a span of four days.

On Thursday and Friday the Clippers have a pair of games at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.

Nanaimo plays Vernon Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and then they take on West Kelowna Friday at 1 p.m.

On Sunday the Clippers host the Victoria Grizzlies at 2 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
