Canada Day to be a major party across Nanaimo and mid-island area

NANAIMO — It’s time to don a red and white hat and wear a flag as a cape. 

Canada Day celebrations kick off at 11 a.m. in Maffeo Sutton Park. 

The cultural showcase stage is expected to be a highlight, where people can learn about the amazing clubs and organizations and the work they do for the Harbour City. 

Once festivities finish in Maffeo Sutton Park, drive up to Parksville for one of the year’s best fireworks shows.

The Parksville event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade winding through town and then officially starts with opening ceremonies at noon in the Community Park. 

Expect to see many of the same faces in Parksville once the Nanaimo event finishes, including Nanaimo’s own Moonshine Molly’s. 

The fireworks start at 10:15 p.m.
