QUALICUM BEACH — It started out small, but an annual Father’s Day car show in Qualicum Beach has exploded into a massive event drawing hundreds of cars and thousands of people.

The 25th annual Seaside Cruizers Father’s Day Show n’ Shine happens Sunday, June 17 in downtown Qualicum Beach, which will be closed down to vehicular traffic.

About 600 registered classical cars will be on display, said spokesman Dave Field.

He said there will be a wide display of vehicles available from western Canada and the pacific northwest.

“Everything from 1920’s and earlier right up to present day,” Field told NanaimoNewsNOW. “Some people bring some of the present hot rods. With our cars and some guests that bring their cars we’ll have close to 700 on display Sunday.”

The free event will see cars lined up throughout downtown Qualicum between 9am and 3pm.

Field estimated great weather will play a big role into upwards of 25,000 people showing up.

“We expect we’ll have a really good crowd this year.”

Field said the family friendly event includes entertainment and several food trucks.

He said a record $35,000 was raised during last year’s event to support 19 Oceanside area charities.

The Seaside Cruizers Father’s Day car show started in 1993 with about 60 cars.
