Nanaimo RCMP arrest youth for allegedly breaking into seniors care facility

Jun 14, 2018 | 4:11 PM

NANAIMO — Local police say though no charges have been laid, seniors in care facilities can breathe easier knowing a thieving suspect was apprehended.

Cst. Gary O’Brien says a young man was arrested after being identified just days after allegedly climbing into several suites at a seniors care facility and robbing them while residents slept on Friday, June 8.

No charges have been laid yet in what’s believed to be an isolated incident.

“We felt it was prudent to advise the public of the arrest in order to lessen any lingering concerns that seniors facilities were being targeted,” O’Brien said in a release.
