Nanaimo duo pleads guilty, escapes jail time for crime spree

Jun 13, 2018 | 4:18 PM

NANAIMO — A pair of Nanaimo criminals pleaded guilty for possessing stolen credit cards and stolen property.

Court records show Elizabeth Grace Smart, 24, and Tyler Andrew Stephen Wade, 25, were each given conditional discharges and one-year probation on Wednesday in Provincial Court in Nanaimo.

The pair were charged with nearly 30 counts, a bulk of them possession of stolen property under $5,000, but those charges were thrown out in exchange for guilty pleas. Only six charges remained, related to offences on June 13, 2017 in Nanaimo.

Both Smart and Wade were expected to have three-day trials, which are now cancelled.
