Nanaimo chosen to help paint clearer picture of national health
NANAIMO — Local households have a chance to better the health of all Canadians.
Five hundred Nanaimo households are part of the Canadian Health Measures Survey, where they’ll answer questions at an in-home interview starting June 12 and then visiting a clinic for in-depth health analysis several weeks later.
Janine Clarke with Stats Canada said the personal nature of the survey will help paint a more accurate picture of how healthy Canadians are.
“We know that people tend to over-report their height and under-report their weight. We’re actually going to measure it and go even further…taking direct measurements of visual health, bone health and physical fitness. Things that just can’t be captured well in a questionnaire.”
