Working overtime: more noise expected from Hammond Bay construction site
NANAIMO — A massive project is expected to generate temporary around-the-clock noise at the Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre (GNPCC) construction site in Hammond Bay.
A noise bylaw exemption from City Hall was granted to allow crews to work outside regular hours on Thursday and Friday at the Regional District of Nanaimo’s ongoing Secondary Treatment Upgrade Project.
The RDN anticipates crews to be on site between 6 a.m. Thursday and midnight Friday.
RDN project coordinator James Haddou told NanaimoNewsNOW concrete trucks and other equipment cause noise, which has led to localized concerns.
