Man on scooter injured in collision with truck in Ladysmith

LADYSMITH — A man was seriously injured after the scooter he was riding was hit by a truck on the Trans-Canada Hwy. in Ladysmith.

It happened late Monday morning when a truck turned onto the highway from North Davis Rd. and collided with the scooter, according to Ladysmith RCMP Staff Sgt. Ken Brissard.

He couldn't provide details on the collision or the nature of the injuries of the man on the scooter.

He said the RCMP's South Island Traffic Services division took over the investigation.

An air ambulance flew the man to hospital.

The incident caused traffic disruptions as police investigated the scene.
