HALIFAX — Dozens of Syrian refugees literally gave of themselves as a way of giving thanks for being taken in by Canada.

Mohammad Harb says 61 refugees donated blood at a Canadian Blood Services clinic in Halifax on Saturday, and more were expected later in the day.

Harb, whose family met Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last year, says he was pleased that so many people came to donate to say, ‘Thank you, Canada.’”

Harb told Global News he left Syria out of fear for his children and family.
