Toy drive for the Nanaimo Christmas Angels hopes to bring holiday cheer to everyone

Dec 1, 2017 | 3:25 PM

NANAIMO — For the first time ever, a local paint store wants to deck the halls a Christmas colour for all families in need.

Starting Friday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 15, Nanaimo’s Sherwin-Williams is collecting unwrapped gifts and gift cards for Volunteer Nanaimo Christmas Angels.

Store manager Adrienne Harper said she chose the Christmas Angels for their first ever toy drive because the charity is “very near and dear to my heart.” Her own family was nominated last year after unfortunate circumstances made it difficult to fulfill the Christmas wishes of her children.

Harper said supporting the Christmas Angels also called to her because they help families who don’t fit the typical bill of a low-income family.
