Paralympian and MLA Michelle Stilwell can’t find gold medal after legislature move

VICTORIA — Former paralympian and politician Michelle Stilwell says one of her gold medals has gone missing from an office at British Columbia’s legislature.

The former cabinet minister and current MLA for Parksville-Qualicum says when she moved offices following last May’s provincial election a box containing one of her world championship gold medals disappeared.

Stilwell says in a statement she kept the medal in her office from her time as a wheelchair athlete to show visitors because she was proud of the achievement and wanted to share her accomplishments with others.

Stilwell won six Paralympic gold medals in both basketball and track, in addition to being a nine time world champion.
