Qualicum residents to weigh in on marijuana dispensary application

Sep 29, 2017 | 5:00 PM

QUALICUM BEACH — The Town of Qualicum Beach wants the public’s opinion on a bid to set up a temporary medical marijuana dispensary in the downtown area.

Van Isle Wellness Centre is planning to set up shop on Fir St., which people in Qualicum Beach can speak to at a Monday, Oct. 2 council meeting at 7 p.m.

The Town’s director of planning Luke Sales said if granted, the permit would be in effect for one year, giving the Town time to evaluate the impact on the area.

“At the end of that year, the town would then decide whether or not to continue that use in the location, maybe create some new conditions or cancel it.”
