NANAIMO — Saturday afternoon the Nanaimo Clippers wrapped up play at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack with a 3-3 tie against Wenatchee. The Clippers got goals from Parker Colley, Vincent Millette and Jake Harris who tied the game up in the last minute of regulation time.

The Clippers will be back on the ice Friday on the road to take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

In the VIJHL, the Nanaimo Buccaneers salied past the Kerry Park Islanders 8-2 in Mill Bay. Booker Chacalias led the way with 4 points on the night. Brandon Roberge also had two goals.

The Buccaneers will be back on home ice Thursday when they host Saanich. Game time is 7:15 p.m. at the NIC.

In the BCMML, the North Island Silvertips dropped their season opener Saturday 4-0 to the Vancouver NW Giants. The Tips will look for a better result this morning when they take on the Giants again. Game time is 8:00 a.m. at Frank Crane Arena.

In BCIHL, the VIU Mariners downed the University of Victoria 4-3 in exhibition play.

In BCFC action on Saturday the VI Raiders improved to 4-3-1 on the season with a 47-27 win over the Valley Huskers. The Raiders are back on the field next Saturday in Kamloops.

Both the the men’s and women’s VIU soccer teams were on the pitch Saturday afternoon at Langara College in Vancouver. The men won 4-0 while the women settled for a 1-1 draw.
