Two players on Canada’s roller derby team have ties to Harbour City Rollers

NANAIMO — Two coaches for the Harbour City Rollers have been named to Team Canada for the 2018 Roller Derby World Cup.
 
Dan Zimmer, who’s from Nanaimo, and Kris Bennett will be heading off to Barcelona for the World Cup next April.
 
In a sport where all competitors have their own unique moniker, Zimmer is know as Danomite and Bennett goes by Gingerdead Man.
 
The pair were both members of Team Canada during the 2016 event in Calgary when the Canadian team finished fourth.
 
Meanwhile the Harbour City Rollers are wrapping up their season this week.
 
On Tuesday, the team held a free skate at the Nanaimo Curling Club and the final scrimmage of the year will be at the Fuller Lake Arena on Sunday.
