Nanaimo Hospital Foundation gives $2 million donation to Island Health

NANAIMO — Island Health has more money to work with thanks to a sizable donation from the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation. 

The $2.2 million donation was made at a donor appreciation evening in Qualicum Beach on May 4. 

In a release, Foundation CEO Janice Perrino said the donation is a “true testament” to how generous the mid-Island area is. 

As well, the Foundation had kickstarted their newest fundraising campaign. The goal is $350,000 for healthy heart programs and cardiac equipment. 

“When we’re buying equipment for the hospital, we want to make sure that all of the ages right from birth on up are getting the medical attention that they need to keep them healthy throughout their lives,” Perrino said.
