Oceanside RCMP apprehend prolific offender

Mar 29, 2017 | 1:17 PM

NANAIMO — It took a few days, but Oceanside RCMP got their man.

On March 22, RCMP tried to pull over a suspicious white van in Parksville, but the driver, 50-year-old Aaron William March, fled. They once again saw the van the next day, but March took off.

The van had been stolen from a business in Errington on March 17, according to RCMP.

Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said March was on their radar for some time, primarily related to property crime in the area.

Finally, after two days of seeing and losing the van, RCMP found it abandoned in Errington. Their investigation led officers to March, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

He pleaded guilty on March 27 to possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, which was found on him when he was arrested.

March was sentenced to 70 days in jail.

Cpl. Foreman said they’re happy to have March arrested so quickly.

“We always hope people learn from things that happen and some time in jail will serve him well.”
