RCMP again warning Nanaimo residents to lock up their cars

Mar 23, 2017 | 5:22 PM

NANAIMO — A string of theft from cars has prompted Nanaimo RCMP to warn residents of the danger of leaving their cars unlocked.

According to Cst. Derek Balderston, there were seven reports of theft from cars between March 12 and 19, specifically near Hammond Bay Rd. and Uplands Dr.

He said these are crimes of opportunity and there were no signs of forced entry.

“We’d like to remind everyone to lock your doors, park in well lit locations and most importantly don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle, especially if they’re unattended,” he said.
