Feb 16, 2017 | 7:48 AM

NANAIMO — A strong performance by the Clippers top line has led the team to a fourth straight victory.

On Wednesday Nanaimo beat the Cowichan Valley Capitals 5-3 with the trio of Ben Solin, Lucas Finner, and Matt Creamer tallying seven points between them.

The Clippers were dominant in the first period outshooting Cowichan 19-6, but Creamer with a power play goal, was the only player to beat goalie Adam Marcoux.

In the first minute of the second period the Caps tied the game up on a cross ice pass converted by Mitchell Skapski.

A power play goal high to the glove side by Sean Buchanan game the Clippers the lead back mid way through the period, and Creamers second goal of the game extended Nanaimo’s lead early in the third.

Ayden MacDonald pulled the capitals even again when he beat Evan DeBrouwer twice in a span of 33 seconds halfway through the final period.

It was looking like the game was going overtime until Ben Solin sniped a power play goal from the right side to give Nanaimo a 4-3 lead.

Josh Blanchard scored a power play empty netter to secure the win.

The Clippers were an impressive 4/6 on the power play and they were also a perfect 2/2 killing penalties.

With the victory Nanaimo won the season series with a 5-2-0-1 record.

Now they get set for a two game road series with Powell River on Friday and Saturday.
