PARKSVILLE — A man accused of stabbing his friend outside the French Creek Marine Pub has been charged following a court appearance in Nanaimo.

Garret Ryan Bruce, 30, of Errington is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, according to court files.

Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman stated via email on Monday that a 41-year-old Parksville man is still in hospital with what’s said to be “life altering injuries,” but his injuries are no longer “life threatening.”

Oceanside Mounties said the stabbing happened Friday night in the pub’s parking lot, leaving the victim with multiple wounds. The victim was flown to hospital in Victoria following the attack, according to police.
