ATM hit after Christmas smash-and-grab at Nanaimo restaurant

Dec 26, 2016 | 9:51 PM

NANAIMO — Police think someone made off with cash from an ATM after smashing the front window of Nanaimo’s Cactus Club restaurant.

Nanaimo RCMP say one of their members spotted the broken window around 4 a.m. on Dec. 25 while doing patrols in Northridge Village on Turner Road.

No one was in the building when police went in. Because of damage to the ATM in the restaurant, Mounties believe cash was taken.

RCMP are asking anyone with information about this “ongoing investigation” to contact them at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
