Limited access to lower car decks, smoke free boats considered by BC Ferries

Dec 20, 2016 | 10:05 AM

NANAIMO — Don’t expect to stay in your vehicle anymore when you’re heading on the ferry to Vancouver.

A formal announcement is coming in January, but BC Ferries plans to limit passenger access to closed decks during sailings.

That would apply to the main lower car decks, but not to the upper or open car decks.

In an email, BC Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall calls the change a full implementation of Transport Canada regulations.
