Charges laid after ‘crime-spree’, high speed chase through Nanaimo

NANAIMO — Several charges have been laid against two men accused in a weekend crime-spree between Ladysmith and the Oceanside region.

Charged are 21-year-old Craig Hannon of Parksville and 26-year-old Andrew Kloss of Errington.

Oceanside Mounties say the charges follow the alleged theft of a paving truck and trailer early Sunday morning in Errington. What police called a crime-spree eventually ended near the Nanoose Bay Petro-Canada later that morning, after a high-speed chase on Highway 19 that started in Nanaimo.

Prior to the chase, which involved dozens of officers, police allege the pair dropped off the trailer in Ladysmith and items were stolen from another vehicle before the duo was spotted in Nanaimo.
