NANAIMO — The VI Raiders had a huge win on Saturday, thanks in no small part to the efforts of their defense.

That defense was led by linebacker Dexter Shea, who has been named the BCFC Defensive Player of the Week. The former John Barsby Bulldog racked up 10 total tackles and hauled in a huge interception in a 14-8 win over the Okanagan Sun at Caledonia Park on Saturday.

Shea entered week 9 action ranked 5th in the BCFC with 75 defensive points, including 40 total tackles and 3 fumble recoveries.

The Raiders close out the regular season on Saturday in Chilliwack against the winless Huskers. VI also now knows their playoff fate thanks to the Westshore Rebels clinching first place overall. The Raiders will visit the Rebels for round of the playoffs. A date and time for that game has yet to be announced.
