QUALICUM BEACH — RCMP are still searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed and had his truck stolen while trying to help at the scene of a crash.

Mounties say a man stopped to help another motorist who had crashed on the side of the Inland Island Highway around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, two kilometres north of the Qualicum Beach exit.

Shortly after, police say they got a call from the man saying he had been stabbed and his truck had been stolen by the man he stopped to help.

Police report the stolen truck was found Thursday morning, but the suspect is still on the loose. RCMP have offered no update on the condition of the man who was stabbed.
