Generals drop season opener

Sep 3, 2016 | 7:08 AM

PARKSVILLE — It was not the start to the season the Oceanside Generals were looking for. The Generals fell 6-1 to the Campbell River Storm on the road Friday night to kick off the new VIJHL season.

Generals goaltender Matt Henwood was very busy stopping 55 of the 61 shots he faced as his team was badly out shot, the Generals only registered 15 shots on goal.

Parksville native Brodie Smith scored the lone goal for the Generals after a misplay by Campbell River goaltender Chris Smith in front of the Storm net.

The Generals will look to rebound on Thursday September 8th when they visit the Nanaimo Buccaneers. Game time is 7:15 at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
