Nanaimo dog badly injured by exploding airbag

Sep 2, 2016 | 4:38 PM

NANAIMO — It’s an unusual way for a dog to get injured.

Nanaimo RCMP report two trucks collided on Thursday in central Nanaimo, which exploded the airbags of a Ford Tundra, seriously injuring a dog sitting in the lap of a driver.

Const. Gary O’Brien says investigators believe that the driver with the injured dog failed to yield when turning from Wilgress Road onto Northfield Road.

O’Brien says having a small dog or child in the front seat of a vehicle is a bad idea.
