PEAK Fishing Report
Sockeye fishing is really heating up now as we approach the peak of the season.
The fish are found in the top 50′ of water, and are brought up using pink and black, pink and blue or pink hootchies tied 16-24 inches behind green or red flashers.
Colby at Gone Fishin’ says quite a few anglers are limiting out, and the key is to find the school. He says with the warming weather they’ll start schooling up more.
Cous Creek to Sproat Narrows has been the most productive area lately.
Still a limit of 4 in the Inlet, 2 at Paper Mill Dam and 1 at Somass Park.
Chinook are starting to come in around Kirby Point, Austin, Cree, and the Bamfield Wall, and Springs up to 15 lbs are hitting small spoons and bait.
We’re expecting a banner year for Chinook with up to 120,000 forecast to return to Robertson Creek.
