Nanaimo Foodshare is a charity the works with the community to address those struggling with hunger & acquiring food for their table
They strive to build food skills, provide healthy, sustainable food, and work to develop community strategies to Improve food security
An example is their Good Food Box – a program that provides those in need with access to fresh produce. They’re available on a pay-what-you-can model, with limited boxes available at no cost. In 2021, over 500,000 pounds of produce went into over 27,000 boxes.
Other programs include an agricultural training program for those living with disabilities, a senior meals program, and a lunch program for school-aged children.
