NANAIMO — Small, local business to the lifeblood of any community and NanaimoNewsNOW is proud to amplify the work they do in our region.

Amplify Nanaimo is an initiative with Pattison Media and Save-on-Foods to nominate and recognize local businesses who go above and beyond in the community.

One nominator wanted to recognize Superette Foods on Albert St., an institution in Nanaimo for over 40 years.

“”Amazing prices, friendly staff,” the nomination read. “This business was struggling at the beginning of the pandemic and somehow they have come out stronger than ever, there prices are really helpful to families who need a good bang for their buck.”

The store at the corner of Albert St. and Milton St. near the downtown, is run by Garry Negrin.

“This business has allowed us people who can’t afford a lot, to be able to afford a lot of food with their low low prices,” the nomination continued. “I don’t know how they do it! They even run fun contests for their customers!”

More information about Superette is available on their Facebook page.
