Nanaimo RCMP seeking help to find missing south Nanaimo man

NANAIMO — A south Nanaimo man hasn’t been seen since Tuesday and his family is gravely concerned.

Police are searching for 42-year-old Ryan Van Haastert. He left his home around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

“He is struggling with some issues and his friends and family are extremely worried for his safety,” RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW.

Van Haastert left in his 2017 grey Toyota Corolla, license plate GF1 40W.

He was seen in the Cedar area several hours after leaving his home, but couldn’t be found by investigators.

Van Haastert is white, standing six-foot-two and weighing 190 lbs. The picture posted above is recent.
