Man with ties to Nanaimo Fighting for Life after Crash

A man with deep ties to Nanaimo is fighting for his life following a serious crash north of Nanaimo.

Lantzville Fire Department Chief Robert Chatton says it happened on Highway 19 on Sunday afternoon, when a northbound car lost control and went off the highway at Capilano Road.

“Single vehicle that exited the highway and came to a very sudden stop. Four passengers inside and they were all out of the vehicle upon fire department’s arrival,” said Chatton.

A 32 year old man, who grew up in Lantzville and attended high school in Nanaimo, was flown to hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital.

Three other people in the vehicle were less seriously hurt. The cause of the crash is under RCMP investigation.
