Never Be the Same

Try Something New.

As I make my way through my 50/50 list, the list of experiences I am adding to my life in my 50th year, I am met by all sorts of interesting comments from others. Some are impressed, some are inspired, some just shake their heads, but most ask the question, “Why? Why are you doing this?”

From simple things like experiencing a new religious custom, to difficult experiences like going sugar free for 50 days, this challenge has left me with an answer to the question why.

I am forcing myself to create new experiences because when I am on the other side of one – no matter which one it is, I emerge a different person. One who, I hope, is more compassionate, more accepting, more appreciative, more willing. Just more. And different. And that I was yesterday.

I don’t just want to do more, I want to be more.

If you can’t remember the last time you did something that scared the beegeebees out of you, that made you uncomfortable, that you have never done before, maybe it’s time to try something!

You will never be the same.
