'Very, very lucky,' man's SUV plunges 200 ft. down embankment near Qualicum Beach

PARKSVILLE — Emergency responders say a man is lucky after rolling his vehicle down an embankment north of Qualicum Beach on Tuesday.

A southbound car on the Nanaimo Parkway crashed and burst into flames early Saturday morning. The driver was safely pulled from the fiery wreckage.

NANAIMO — A driver luckily survived a fiery early morning crash on the Nanaimo Parkway which shut the highway down for several hours.

NANAIMO — A fire which sent thick billowing smoke high into the air above Nanaimo badly damaged a workshop belonging to a local church.

The blaze broke out in the shop beside World of Pentecost Church on Allsop Rd. just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Person of interest sought in suspicious French Creek bakery fire

PARKSVILLE — Oceanside RCMP want to talk to a person of interest in a suspicious fire that destroyed French Creek Bakery and Cafe.

Cpl. Jesse Foreman told NanaimoNewsNOW police want to talk to a man spotted near the bakery just before the April 28 fire.
