Nanaimo writers festival highlights creativity in the region

NANAIMO — There will be a flurry of writing and reading in downtown Nanaimo over the next few days.

The Nanaimo Spring Writes Festival runs from Thursday, April 27 to Sunday, April 30 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre and surrounding stores.

Parksville volunteers to be honoured with recognition they deserve

PARKSVILLE — Hundreds of people who dedicate their lives to helping others will soon have their moment in the spotlight.

Mayor Mark Lefebvre said he was thrilled to honour Parksville volunteers by declaring April 23 to April 29 Volunteer Week, as part of a national initiative.

NANAIMO — A federal party leader visited Nanaimo for likely the only time in B.C.'s 2017 provincial election campaign.

Federal Green Party leader and Saanich-Gulf Islands MP Elizabeth May courted voters at Diana Krall Plaza on Friday, April 21 alongside local Green Party candidates.
