BC Ferries increases sailings for holidays

NANAIMO — BC Ferries is adding extra sailings to accommodate a surge of travelers over the Christmas holidays.

184 more sailings between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island are in place between Dec. 21 and Jan. 2, including 46 on the Departure Bay – Horseshoe Bay run.

NANAIMO — A new artificial turf field at Nanaimo District Secondary School is open, but the facility is far from a finished product as officials huddle to determine what features are still needed.

This Christmas, the charity I Love First Peoples is asking for filled shoeboxes. They say it doesn't have to be gifts, even a letter saying 'You matter' will be enough.

NANAIMO — This Christmas, not all the gifts you give have to end up under your tree.

NANAIMO — After a bustling year in downtown Nanaimo, more money is available for any organizations hoping to fill downtown with laughter and fun.

NANAIMO — A mammoth seasonal undertaking is underway to make life easier for families who struggle to put food on the table over the winter holidays.

Parksville toy drive fuels Christmas spirit

PARKSVILLE – The massive Tigh-Na-Mara Toy Drive hopes no child goes without a gift this Christmas.

The eighth annual toy drive is Nov. 29 from 6 to 10 a.m. at the Parksville resort. Last year, it collected close to 1,600 toys and over $11,000 in gift cards, cash and cheques.
