NANAIMO — Excitement about Monday's total solar eclipse has peaked and finding proper eyewear to view the event safely appears next to impossible in Nanaimo.

VIEx organizers have stretched their expectations this year and hope the new ribfest will help bring in 30,000 people.

NANAIMO — There will be stickier fingers and fuller stomachs at this year's Vancouver Island Exhibition fair.

Operations manager Stephen Kass told NanaimoNewsNOW 2017 will be a banner year for the VIEx since they're introducing a ribfest to run all weekend.

Weird and wonderful Fringe Festival plays hitting Nanaimo stages

NANAIMO — Theatre fare of a different sort will dominate downtown Nanaimo in coming days.

The seventh annual Fringe Festival kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 10, with 10 plays spread out over 56 showings until Aug. 19.
