Nanaimo crews preparing for fallout, ferries suspended, as ex-typhoon hits south coast

NANAIMO — While Environment Canada is predicting the mid-island won't see the worst of a third consecutive storm bearing down on the South Coast, conditions are still expected to be wild.

Woman has life-threatening injuries after highway crash near Parksville

PARKSVILLE — A serious two-vehicle crash on Highway 19 near Parksville has a 28-year-old Qualicum Beach woman fighting for her life.

Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman says the late Friday morning crash happened in the southbound lane, where a truck was hit by an oncoming car.
