NANAIMO - The VIU Mariners women's basketball team kept their strong season going with wins over Camosun and Columbia Bible College over the weekend.

VIU was led by Victoria Brown who was named the PACWEST Female Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Nanaimo U-19 field lacrosse players getting noticed by US colleges

PALM SPRINGS — Players from the Nanaimo Raiders U-19 Women's field lacrosse team had an opportunity to impress college recruiters at a recent tournament in California.
 
The Sandstorm Tournament in Palm Springs Jan 16-18 featured nine girls from the Raiders.

Clippers lose opportunity to gain ground in playoff race with 9-5 loss in Surrey

SURREY — Defense for both teams went out the window in Nanaimo's 9-5 loss to the Surrey Eagles on Sunday.

The Eagles scored on the first shift of the game and that set the tone for a rough outing for the Clippers.

Clippers on three game winning streak after 4-3 OT win in Salmon Arm

SALMON ARM - The Clippers are on a three game winning streak for the first time since October after a 4-3 overtime win against the Silverbacks on Friday.

Lucas Finner scored his second OT winner of the season to give Nanaimo two points to start their three game road trip.

COBBLE HILL — Another successful weekend for long distance runner Erin Burrett.

She was the top female finisher in the Cobble Hill 10K race in Mill Bay on Sunday.

Burrett finished the race with a time of 34:59, just shy of the women's course record time of 34:44.
