Nanaimo Special Olympics athlete brings home hardware

NANAIMO — Nanaimo Special Olympics athlete Dennis Lynch is still winning medals at the age of 51.

He returned to Nanaimo Sunday, March 26 from the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria with a silver medal in the 1K cross country skiing relay event.

Nanaimo man vying for Blind World Lawn Bowling Championship in South Africa

SOUTH AFRICA — Gus Thorne and his director Donn Sherry are representing Canada at the 2017 Blind Bowlers World Bowls Championships.

Thorne won the national championship last August in Delta to qualify for the worlds.

Clippers reflect on 2016-17 season at awards banquet

NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Clippers wrapped up the 2016-17 hockey season with their annual awards banquet Wednesday.

It was an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the team and say some final goodbyes.
